Buyer's Guide

How to pick a coverall for your shift.

Most coverall buyers over-spec. Crews working a 0°F to −10°F warehouse don't need −50°F gear. Crews in a −20°F freezer absolutely do. Match the rating to your shift and you'll be warmer, lighter on your feet, and you'll spend less.

Two specs drive the rating: insulation weight (grams of polyester batting per square meter) and shell density (the windproof outer layer). 200g shells rated to −50°F protect against the wind-cut at extreme cold; 100–150g shells work for mild winter outdoor work.

Don't size for "no layer" — size for the thermal base you'll wear under it. Go one size up if you layer fleece + thermal base. If you're between sizes for a fleece-only setup, go down.

Before you order

Coverall FAQs.

The questions buyers ask most before placing an order.

What's the difference between hooded and non-hooded coveralls?
The hooded version (Chill-Bloc® Hooded Coverall) has a detachable fleece-lined hood with a storm visor and drawstring closure. Snap it off when you're indoors, snap it back on when wind picks up. The non-hooded "Standard" version is the same garment minus the hood, $20 cheaper, and a bit lighter. Most crews working both indoor freezer and outdoor settings prefer the hooded version.
How do I pick the right temperature rating?
Match the rating to where you actually work, not what you fear. If you're working outdoors in a normal northern winter (0°F to −20°F), the −40°F gear is enough. If you're in a blast freezer or arctic op, go −50°F. We publish the independent EN 342 lab report on every product page. See our buyer's guide →
Can I get one made to fit?
Yes. Any coverall in this collection can be built to your exact measurements through our Made-to-Measure program. +$40 over the standard price, 3–4 weeks lead time, final sale. Free measurement consult by phone — call +1 718-974-3615 Mon–Fri 9–6 ET.
Are these certified for hazardous or regulated work?
Chill-Bloc® coveralls are independently certified to EN 342 (thermal insulation) and ASTM F1506 (flame resistance). The Hi-Vis variant is also ANSI/ISEA 107 Class 3 certified. If your employer requires a specific cert for reimbursement, call us before ordering and we'll confirm the report covers your standard.
How do I care for an insulated coverall?
Machine wash cold, inside out, on a normal cycle. Tumble dry low — do not over-dry, it shortens the life of the insulation. Do not iron, do not bleach, do not dry-clean. Hang in a dry space when not in use. With this routine, expect 4–6 winters of daily use before insulation loft starts to decline.
What if the fit is wrong when it arrives?
Send it back within 30 days for a free exchange or refund. We email a prepaid return label, you ship it back, replacement goes out within 48 hours of receipt. No restocking fee, no arguments. Made-to-measure orders are final sale.
Do you offer crew or volume pricing?
Yes. Orders of 10 units or more qualify for fleet pricing (15–25% off), mixed-size kits, optional logo placement, and NET-30 billing on approved accounts. Request a fleet quote →
